Young people in Cornwall were invited to sit on a special sofa in Lemon Quay in Truro on Saturday, 19 September 2009 to give their opinions on the kinds of places they want to go and the things they want to do in the county.

The event, which took place on the Piazza, was part of the SOFA (Speak Out for Action) project, an exciting new initiative which aims to provide an opportunity for young people to voice their opinions on leisure facilities and interesting spaces for young people to socialise, and to inform decision makers about their ideas.

We will hopefully have the video up here soon so that you can see what young people said about facilities in their local area.

The Members of Youth Parliament, the main group behind the project, are planning to travel around the county and ask more young people about their views. They realise how much of an issue transport can be and will hence be bringing the SOFA to you.

The SOFA project will be feeding directly into the Manifesto for Young People 2010 and will ensure that the Members of Youth Parliament are aware of the issues that they need to take forward from their constituents.

If you think that you would like to be involved in this project then please contact us on any of the details on the Contact page.
